ADMA Challenge Series #2

Alaska Dog Mushers Association had a reprieve from Mother Nature’s recent cold snap, and provided a relatively warm day to run the second Annamaet Challenge Series. The sky was overcast with temperatures at around 2F and snow flurries starting during the open class race. Races held included 4.5 mile 1, 2 and 3-dog skijoring with Kriya Dunlap taking first place overall with two dogs in a time of 14:02 followed by Susan Seitz and Chad Carroll. A 4.5 mile 4-dog class had the largest entries with Jennifer Probert winning in a time of 14:18.6 followed by Scott Campbell (14:29.7) and Milinda Homes (14:50.5).Probert also took first place in the 6-dog class in a smoking run of 17:39.8 over 5.9 miles.Trisha Seibold-Sonnichsen breezed through the 9.3 mile run in the 8-dog class in a time of 30:01.8 and local veterinarian Arleigh Reynolds won the open class with 14 dogs in a time if 37:01.5.The final mid-distance class of the season was won by Mike Sanford with 16 dogs in a time of 78:31.6 over the 19 mile trail. ADMA will hold races at the Mushers Hall track just about every weekend until mid-February. Up-coming events include Annamaet Challenge Series races 3-5 and the Gold Run and Limited North American Championships.
