Beargrease Postponed

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon has been postponed to February 25th. The 400-mile race, which starts in Duluth, MN had to be pushed back due to a lack of snow. With little snow along the 140 mile route from Duluth to the Gunflint Trail, organizers were not able to groom the icy area, which also had rocks and grass showing through. With a strong line-up of sponsors and a $40,000 purse, the race had attracted the largest field. The new date may pose a problem for mushers wanting to race in other events, such as the Iditarod which starts on March 3rd.The gala dinner with guest speaker, Libby Riddles, will go ahead as planned on January 26th.
