Learning To Dog Sled In Bavaria, Germany

WE WERE ALL getting along just fine. Gunda (my alpha leader), Xare (her co-pilot), Stangl (an amorous male) and Zenzi (the blonde he kept trying to mount) were as solid as a dog sled team gets. We’d only met three hours earlier, but now we were gliding beautifully over the packed snow atop Bavaria’s highest mountain, Grosser Arber. Then, we hit a ditch and I flew off the sled into a snow bank. The dogs kept running.
