Matt Hall of Smokin’ Ace Kennel crossed the finish line just after 9:30 am winning the 279.5 mile Copper Basin. Hall led Ryne Olson by about 4 miles in the closing miles of the finish. Both teams were traveling just above 10 mph. Hall is undefeated this year as he won the Alpine Creek Excursion (just shy of 60 miles), and the Solstice 50. He is scheduled to race in the Two Rivers 200 and Yukon Quest.Shortly behind Olson was the husband and wife team, Allen Moore and Aliy Zirkle, of the perennial powerhouse SP kennel. Allen Moore was favored going into this year’s Copper Basin as the several time champion of the CB300.
