Aurora Dog Mushers Club were challenged with marginal weather and consequent trail conditions but were successfully able to run the Aurora 50/50 – an early shakedown for the distance racing season. After coming off a third place finish in the Alpine Creek Excursions, Ryan Redington won the Aurora 50/50 with 9 dogs and a two-day total time of 9:49:15. While he is training for Iditarod this season, his team looks like they remembered the speed from his last few race seasons (he was racing Stage Stop and other stage races).Nicolas Petit finished in second with 9 dogs and a total time of 10:20:05. Mydzung Osmar came in third 10:55:20, with 9 dogs. 11 teams ran the race, with only one scratch.
