Shaynee Seipke Competes in Two Rivers 200 Sled Dog Race

Gladwin native, Shaynee Seipke, now living in Two Rivers Alaska, recently competed in the Two Rivers 200 Sled Dog Race. This race is an Iditarod and Yukon Quest qualifier. Shaynee finished 4th out of 16 teams. Each team started the 200 mile race with 12 dogs and were required to take 10 hours of mandatory rest at the mushers’ discretion. The race started in Chatanika with a 48-mile leg to the Two Rivers Lodge. There Shaynee took a 2 hour rest prior to departing for the next 48 mile leg to the Pleasant Valley Store. Shaynee then took a 4 hour rest before leaving on a 67 mile leg to Angel Creek Lodge where she took her final 4 hour rest while preparing for the final 37 mile leg.
